Family Practice

Janice Knowlton received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Cuesta College and Californian Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo California. Janice completed her certification as a Physician Assistant from Stanford University in 1988. She has served as the President of the Kern County Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant Association from 1993 to 2001. In 1998 the California Academy of Physician Assistant awarded Janice with the Physician Assistant of the Year for her dedication and excellence in the practice of Medicine and for Kern County.

Janice takes immense pride in holistically treating her patients and maintains abreast to clinical changes in Family and Internal Medicine by regularly reviewing medical literature. She volunteers her time and effort in garnering funds for homeless shelters, training of therapy dogs for people with medical needs and Alliance for Family Violence and other charitable organizations as well as providing medical services to the underserved. Janice also offers her time to conduct sport physicals for high schools students and Bakersfield College athletes.

With her family, she likes watching football and baseball with her husband. As an avid traveler, she has biked across Western Europe and Great Britain and explored various countries and cultures. Janice enjoys working out at the gym, swimming, skiing and scuba diving.
